Been there yesterday. Have a quick ride on the face-lifted A4 with the new ultra economical 1.8T engine, and the face-lifted A5 sport back 2.0 quattro.

The new 1.8T engine (170HP) is impressive, but the difference from the 2.0T (211HP) engine is noticeable. Audi Hong Kong made a smart move of offering only the front wheel drive version for the A4 with 1.8T. Build quality remains superb even for this entry model.

The face-lifted A5 sportback looks good. No complaints about the well proven 2.0T engine, which matches very well with the 7-speed DSG (Audi called S-tronic0. It is quiet, and reasonably quite.

Both models are tuned for comfort so there is some body roll, but still very compliant. The cabin is quiet and fully updated with all the new gadgets - start-stop, auto-hand brake, key-less start-stop... are now standard. But Drive Select is an option !

I think the A4 1.8T will be competitive, but worried about the A5 and A4's competitiveness against the new BMW 328i.

thank fkclo's comments but I wonder why tge drive select is not a standard equipment, but an option. Then A4 & A5 alway run at ECO mode?

The 7-speed DSG comes with a "S-mode" which will change gear shift point (red line shifting) and throttle response. But it does not offer too much other than this. I think this is a bad decision (not to include Audi Drive Select as standard) for Audi's HK dealer - as BMW 328i Sport line has the various modes come as standard. The default DSG mapping under "auto" is that it will upshift as soon as possible, to give the best fuel economy.

I was told there are two kinds of Audi Drive Select - one that only caters for throttle and shift point (but with 3? modes), and the other (more expensive) will also cope with dynamic steering (user changeable steering ratio, which is an option from Audi but not sure if it is selectable in Hong Kong), AND also damper response.

BTW, the Audi's A4 and A5 series now have a B&O Sound system as option - for HK$8,500 (before tax)!

For music lovers who drive long distance to work this is a must have option !

The B&O sound system is "standard" on the S5 and S4 models. (My TTS have a standard audio system though)

Also, bluetooth interface is now standard on all A4 and A5. But a built-in phone charger (which also includes enhance reception through external antenna - according to the sales) is an option for some HK$2,xxx (before tax).
